A man watches Game of Thrones. He sees the latest episode, "The Ghost of Harrenhal," and thinks the season is gathering steam. The power structure has shifted once again in one of the strongest season two episodes yet.
I complained a bit last week... fearing Melisandre's birth smoke, and magic in general, would take on a significant role... So I was relieved here to see it, instead, used as a way to shine a light on the relationship between Davos and Stannis.
There's perhaps a bit too much in the way of laying out just why everybody's ready to lay down their lives for Dany, but I liked that the show decided to spend a little time in Qarth, not just rush through the obligatory plot points.
Though the show can occasionally bog down in discussing the history of Westeros, I quite enjoyed Sam and then Jon musing about what the First Men thought when they stood on this spot waaaaay back in the day.
